Rezdy

Growth is a good problem to have, but it’s still a problem. As companies expand into new markets, acquire others, or restructure teams, the technical complexity often catches up fast. Different platforms, inconsistent environments, and region-specific setups start to slow things down.

This is where a strategic approach to cloud consolidation comes in, one that simplifies operations, strengthens control, and prepares the business for its next phase of growth.

Rezdy: Building One Platform from Three with Cloud Consolidation

Rezdy has long been recognised as a leading independent booking platform for tours and activities. In 2023, following a strategic merger with Checkfront (Canada) and Regiondo (Europe), the business became a truly global operation.

The merger created new commercial opportunities, but also introduced technical complexity. Each company brought its own cloud environments, primarily AWS and GCP, along with unique operational processes and team structures.

A Strategic Opportunity for Cloud Consolidation

Rather than run parallel systems, Rezdy made the call to consolidate the cloud, aiming to unify platforms, reduce duplication, and prepare for continued growth. The goal was to:

  • Reduce the overhead of maintaining separate platforms
  • Create a consistent architecture that scales with enterprise client demands
  • Standardise security and compliance across regions
  • Build a cloud foundation that supports innovation and future growth

A Collaborative Approach with DNX and AWS MAP

Rezdy partnered with DNX Solutions to support—not replace—their internal team. DNX provided the structure, guardrails, and momentum needed to make progress quickly and confidently. Together, they applied the AWS Migration Acceleration Program (MAP), starting with a 6-week Assess phase and continuing through Mobilise.

Key Activities

  • Discovery: Mapping infrastructure, application workloads, dependencies, and business priorities.
  • Migration Readiness Assessment: Identifying technical and organisational gaps, aligning internal capabilities with AWS best practices.
  • 7Rs Strategy: Analysing workloads to define the right approach for each—Retire, Retain, Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Relocate, or Repurchase.
  • Business Case: Quantifying expected value from migrating to AWS, including cost comparisons, improved performance, and operational benefits.
  • Well-Architected Cloud Foundations: Establishing a secure, scalable AWS platform with patterns to support future migrations.

This hands-on approach gave Rezdy clarity on their existing environment and a practical path forward, backed by a validated business case.

Modern Architecture, Built for Scale

As part of the Mobilise phase, DNX built a future-ready foundation on AWS that would support both current and future workloads. Key features included:

  • Multi-account landing zone: Clear separation of environments with centralised governance and cost tracking.
  • Three-tier VPC architecture: Designed for performance, resilience, and secure access across regions.
  • Centralised IAM: Integrated with Rezdy’s identity providers for streamlined access control and simplified user management.
  • Application platform layer: Supporting scalable deployment of static and dynamic workloads, reducing time-to-market for future services.
  • Infrastructure as Code: 100% codified platform delivery, enabling repeatable, auditable changes.
  • Built-in security and compliance: Guardrails, encryption strategies, monitoring, and controls embedded from day one.

By combining AWS MAP methodology with DNX’s structured delivery, Rezdy gained more than just a migration plan: they now have a secure, efficient, and cost-aware foundation to modernise and scale with confidence.

Cloud Consolidation and Tangible Benefits for the Business

The impact of the AWS consolidation was immediate and far-reaching, bringing measurable improvements across multiple aspects of the business:

  • Cost Visibility and Efficiency: The move to a consolidated AWS environment gave the team clear visibility into their infrastructure spend. With the adoption of FinOps best practices, Rezdy was able to track and optimise costs more effectively, reducing waste and improving overall budget management. Cost forecasting became more accurate, allowing for proactive adjustments to avoid surprises and maximise resource utilisation.
  • Improved Security Posture: The centralisation of controls, combined with AWS-native security best practices, strengthened Rezdy’s security posture. By embedding security guardrails and implementing a multi-layered security framework, the risk of data breaches and compliance violations was significantly reduced. The team could now apply consistent security policies across workloads, ensuring a secure and compliant environment from day one.
  • Operational Simplicity: The move to AWS simplified operations by automating key infrastructure management processes and reducing the complexity of managing multiple systems. Teams were able to deploy resources faster and with fewer dependencies, enabling them to focus on business-critical activities. Automation also improved consistency, eliminating human error and improving the reliability of the environment.
  • Scalability: The newly designed platform was built to scale with the business as it grew. It now supports global traffic and enterprise-level clients with ease. With the flexible, well-architected AWS infrastructure, Rezdy can quickly expand its resources as demand increases, ensuring high availability and performance even during peak usage.
  • Future-Readiness: The new AWS setup was designed with future growth in mind. Compliance requirements, especially across multiple regions, became easier to meet with AWS’s built-in support for compliance standards and governance tools. This future-proof architecture ensures that as Rezdy expands and enters new markets, its cloud environment will continue to meet industry regulations and security standards without costly or time-consuming reconfigurations.
Rezdy: Built for What’s Next

The cloud consolidation strategy wasn’t a lift-and-shift. It was a carefully planned move to simplify, align, and future-proof Rezdy’s cloud operations. The project combined Rezdy’s deep product and domain knowledge with DNX’s cloud architecture and security expertise, resulting in a secure, scalable environment that’s ready for continued growth.

As Rezdy expands its global footprint and attracts larger enterprise customers, the technical foundation is in place to support it, with confidence, control, and flexibility.
